On West Fourth Street, Highway 40 before the interstate was built, the Silver State Lodge offered overnight accommodations to travelers. The main lodge and small cabins were built in 1927. The property was open when these pictures were taken but it was demolished in late 2003. |

The Mizpah Hotel at Second and Lake Streets was built by the Pincolini brothers in 1922. A fire on October 31, 2006, destroyed the hotel and killed 12 people. |
