How to Use the Slideshow
The wallpaper album pages, starting at Truckee River 1, have a Show link below each thumbnail picture to activate a slideshow starting at any picture on the page. The slideshow requires a Java-enabled browser and the page must be fully loaded before the slideshow will start. Navigate forward or back by using the Next or Previous buttons. To exit the slideshow use the Close button or click outside the picture in the gray area of the screen. The yearly index pages, including the Index to Latest, also have a slideshow option.
How to Read the Navigation Tips
Over the years I've used better cameras with higher resolution. The early pictures, taken in 2000 and 2001, were taken with a 1-meg camera and the date is in blue above the thumbnail. Pictures with the date in red, taken from 2001 to 2007, are 3-meg. The latest pictures, starting in October, 2007, were taken with a 12-meg camera and the date is in green. This is an easy way to spot the latest (and highest resolution) pictures on the thumbnail pages, just look for the date in green.
Another navigation tip is to click the parachute at the top of the page to return home. There are over 10,000 images on Nevadamax.com if you count all the variations and different sizes of each picture and if you get lost you can start over at the first page. |
How to Find a Picture
The Site Picture Search page has two choices to find a picture by subject. You can Google Search this site or use the internal site search. The internal search function will not only show links to all picture sizes but also to the wallpaper album page with similar pictures. There are some wide-view pictures that are not indexed to a specific building but still have a good shot of a location you may be looking for. In this case the internal search is better because it links to the wallpaper album page with similar pictures. To initiate a search, short specific names are best, like courthouse or Washoe Courthouse, or a general term like art. The list by date pages can be useful if you are looking for old pictures or new pictures. Select the most recent year for a quick list of the latest additions.
How to Save a Picture or Zip File
To save a single picture first bring up the image on your screen in the size (resolution) you want to save. The highest resolution offered on Nevadamax is 1024x768 and to display one of these pictures you would click on the 1024 link below the thumbnail copy of that picture. Once the picture is on your screen right-click on the image and select Save Picture As.
To download and save a zip or exe file on the screensaver or calendar pages, right-click on the download link and select Save Target As. These instructions are for Windows XP users but other formats are similar. |
How to See a Quick Tour
The Exposition pages are a quick tour of Nevada sorted by unique subject matter like Notable Steps, Great Places to Sit, or Reno Ex-Views. These pages offer a slideshow and the pictures are smaller and faster loading than on the wallpaper pages. If you have a slower dialup connection this is your best option for viewing the site. Another option for a quick view is SlideExpress, short javascript slideshows from the wallpaper galleries.
