George Wingfield purchased the property in 1924 and hired Nevada architect Frederic DeLongchamps to design the Riverside Hotel. It opened in 1927 and went through a series of owners including Pic Hobson and Jessie Beck. The building closed as a casino-hotel in 1986 and remained vacant for a few years then was remodeled as artist's lofts funded by the city of Reno. The picture dated 9/29/02 was taken during Street Vibrations, an annual motorcycle rally. More Riverside pictures in Landmarks 1 and Truckee River 3. |
