Fort Churchill was once a U.S. Army fort built in 1861 to provide protection for early settlers. The average strength of the post was 200. The buildings that remain are in ruins and markers indicate where buildings once stood. The Division of State Parks maintains these ruins in a state of arrested decay. The park is located eight miles south of Silver Springs on Alternate U.S. Highway 95. |
