The five-story, 54-room Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah was opened on November 17, 1908, and was Nevada's tallest building until 1929. It was among the first buildings in the state with electricity and an elevator and the hotel is now included on the National Registry of Historic Places. |

Tonopah has a declining population of about 2,500 and is the county seat for Nye County. Pahrump, with a population over 30,000, is the major city at the southern edge of the county. |
