Vya is a small ghost town in Washoe County, in northwestern Nevada, 10 miles east of the California state line. In the 1840's wagon trains rolled through the area on the Applegate-Lassen Emigrant Trail. Not much remains of the town today but a 4,300 acre spread called the Old Yella Dog Ranch and Cattle Company has been developed as a working guest ranch. Locally referred to as the Y Bar D, the ranch is situated approximately 200 miles north of Reno and 25 miles east of Cedarville, California.
