The 198,000 acre Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management, is 15 miles west of Las Vegas and easily seen from the Las Vegas Strip. The large red sandstone peaks and walls, up to 3,000 feet, are called the Wilson Cliffs or Keystone Thrust and are a popular hiking and rock climbing destination.

The Late Night Cottonwood Valley Trailhead, part of the Red Rock Canyon trail system, is next to Highway 160, or Blue Diamond Road, entering Las Vegas from Pahrump. In some of the pictures you can see the top of the Stratosphere Tower extending over the hill. |
