The 2,001 room MGM Grand opened in 1978 and later became Bally's and the Reno Hilton. The Hilton moved out in 2005 and the property became the Grand Sierra Resort. The new owners are selling some of the rooms as hotel-condominiums and they plan to upgrade the property with a new tower, improvements in the lake area and an indoor water park.
